SHADOW OF THE OWL
" The Trail of Tears "

limited edition print of 1025 with 100 artist proofs

16" x 36" double matted and framed in gunmetal
$ 325

This watercolor painting deals with the Cherokee tragedy now called the Trail of Tears. During the winter of 1838 and 1839 sixteen thousand Cherokees were forced on to what would be the Trail of Tears overland to what is now Oklahoma. The owl is the messenger of death, on the trail of tears over 4,000 Cherokees died. Through the strength and determination of the Cherokee People a new Cherokee Nation was carved out of that early Oklahoma wilderness.
